Republic of Ireland debutant Harriet Scott has praised new Head Coach Colin Bell, claiming she has never worked with a coach like him before.

The Reading WFC defender made her senior international debut in Bell's first game as Head Coach, an impressive 2-0 win over Czech Republic at the Cyprus Cup.

After making her debut, Scott admitted it was a surprise to see her name on the team-sheet but 'loved every minute' of the victory.

Club

Scott signed with Reading in January 2016. She made seven appearances during the 2016 FA WSL season. Reading finished in eighth place with a 1–9–6 record. After signing a new contract with Reading for the 2017 FA WSL season, Scott made eight appearances during the regular season. The team finished in sixth place with a 2–4–2 record.

Harriet Scott laughs as a reporter suggests that most medical students have little time for anything other than sleep after their studies — she prefers a side of professional football. Scott, the 27-year-old Birmingham City and Ireland defender, is preparing for another season juggling both of her passions.

“I’m going into my third year now and I’m really enjoying studying at the University of Keele,” Scott said. “They are really supportive of my sporting side, so I’ve had conversations with my year leads and they’ve [asked] how they can support me through it. Equally the club are very supportive of my education.

“I’m fortunate that I’ve got a good balance between the two parties that are supporting me, which is exactly what I’d hoped for.
